ASHLAND — The Ashland Symphony Orchestra will open the concert season on Saturday, Sept. 19 with “Blockbusters – The Music of John Williams” at the Archer Auditorium at Ashland High School.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and is preceded by a preconcert talk at 6:50 p.m.
Featuring 73 of Ohio’s most talented musicians and Grammy Award winner Music Director and Conductor Michael Repper, this concert showcases pieces from some of John Williams most beloved scores: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and more.
Audience members are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite character from a film scored by John Williams. All patrons may use the Snapstar photo booth to capture a souvenir photo. Please note that due to copyright licensing, this concert does not include videos.
The season of “Symphony and Screen” continues: Oct. 17 “Symphony and Scream!” featuring iconic spooky classical music; Nov. 29 “Christmas at the Movies” the traditional holiday pops concert; Jan. 30 “Video Games” featuring guitarist Mak Grgic and the Ohio premiere of an interactive Video Game Concerto by award winning composer Austin Wintory; March 20 “Scenic Strings” and the music of Jennifer Higdon, Elgar, and Tchaikovsky; and April 17 “Cinematic Sounds” and the return of the Ashland University Choirs and Ashland Area Community Chorus to the stage to perform Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem.
