Bonnie J. Newman, 94 of Shiloh went to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, September 8, 2026, in her home.
She was born on December 29, 1931, in Richland County, the daughter of the late Alonzo and Lydia (nee Feazel) Esbenshade. She has resided in Adario most of her life.
Bonnie married Nohl V. Newman, on August 5, 1954.
She worked for Crestview Local Schools for more than 27 years. She was a member of the Adario Global Methodist Church her entire life where she was the custodian for many years and sang in the choir. She was the janitor for the Adario Butler Township, did lawn care for both the church and the Adario Cemetery for more than 50 years; and was the Honorary Mayor of Adario.
Bonnie also belonged to the Old Uniontown Quilt Guild. She made many quilts that can be found all over the country. Quilting was one of her most beloved hobbies and quilter of the year in 2018.
Bonnie is survived by two daughters, Shirley Ann Baker of Shiloh and Mary Ellen Newman of Worthington; one son, Terry Eugene (Mayra) Newman of Hartsville, South Carolina; one stepson, Larry Newman of Sterling, Viriginia; her brother, Don Esbenshade; three granddaughters, Melinda Turk of Ashland, Ohio; Charlotte Miller of Gibsonburg; and Amber Eyman of Lancaster; one grandson, Jamie (Ciara) Baker of Carmel, Indiana; and five great-great grandchildren, Kyle, Madeleine, Morgan, Madi, and Amelia.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband, Nohl who passed away on December 4, 1984; her infant sister Beverly Esbenshade; two brothers, Alonzo Esbenshade Jr. and Wayne Esbenshade.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Adario Global Methodist Church with Pastor Earl Bedocs presiding. Interment will follow in the Adario Cemetery. A meal and time of fellowship will follow in the Butler Township Hall. Family and friends may visit on Sunday, September 13, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Adario Global Methodist Church, 1790 Adario East Road, Shiloh, Ohio 44878.
