JEROMESVILLE — Kael Lewis ran for two touchdowns and threw for another to help undefeated Hillsdale stave off upset-minded Dalton 21-16 in a Wayne County Athletic League game on Friday night.
Lewis put his team on top early with a 10-yard TD run in the first quarter, but the Bulldogs tied it on Gage Stitt’s 6-yard scoring dash.
The Falcons’ senior quarterback moved his squad back on top with a 1-yard scoring plunge in the second period.
Dalton’s Zach Heathwole drilled a 25-yard field goal to slice the gap to 14-10 heading to halftime.
Lewis struck again in the third period, connecting on a 33-yard touchdown pass with his brother Knox to widen the spread to 21-10.
Dalton’s Carter Hignight got loose for a 13-yard touchdown bolt with 6:24 remaining in the game, but that was as close at it got.
Kael Lewis racked up 242 yards, 79 rushing and 163 passing. Knox Lewis contributed 64 yards receiving.
Hillsdale survived its toughest challenge to date to remain undefeated at 4-0. The Falcons travel to Smithville next week.
The winless Bulldogs host Northwestern on Friday.
