Susan (Sue) Marie Bowersock (Dull), 75, of Ashland, OH, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, September 11, 2026, at University Hospital in Ashland with her family by her side.
Sue was born August 1, 1951, in Ashland, Ohio, as the 4th of 5 children born to Melvin and Connanelle (Connie) (Shakley) Dull.
Sue graduated from Mapleton High School, class of 1970, where she won a scholarship to attend the Ohio State School of Cosmetology in Columbus, Ohio. She was a member of the reunion committee for the Mapleton class of 1970 for many years and truly loved arranging and attending these reunions.
Sue married her high school sweetheart, Robert (Bob) Bowersock, on September 19, 1970. They resided in Ashland, Ohio, with their 2 daughters, Tammy (Wolfe) Hall and Trisa (Daniels) Kopchak, and grandson Derrick Bowersock. Bob and Sue enjoyed 35 ½ years of marriage before Bob’s passing on April 7, 2006. Sue would always say her greatest accomplishment in life was her family. She truly cherished spending time with her immediate and extended family. She made it a priority to remain in touch with many family members near and far throughout the years.
Sue was a friendly, spunky spirit. She enjoyed bowling for many years at King Lanes, where she met many people who became lifelong friends. She babysat for many children in her home throughout her life and worked at various places, although her most recent employment at Home Depot in Ashland as a cashier was her favorite. She used to tell us stories of all the people she would reconnect with there and all the new ones she would meet. This job suited her well because she loved being social with everyone; she never met a stranger. She had many physical challenges throughout her life, but none of these issues slowed her spirit. She was rarely seen without a welcoming smile on her face despite the struggles she was going through.
Sue would often say how blessed she was to have had such a wonderful husband in Bob, and later in life she would be blessed again to reconnect with Bill Stauffer, a family friend who became an amazing companion. Bill brought great joy to her life that she had been missing since the passing of Bob. He introduced her to travel, which she had never done much of in life. Turns out, she loved traveling! She especially loved traveling to Texas for the winter with Bill. She would often send photos and messages saying how much she enjoyed living life again with all of her newfound friends. She loved attending the dances at the clubhouses where, despite her physical challenges, she would still get on the dance floor and have a great time. She enjoyed listening to people sing karaoke and meeting all the new people. Bill’s family welcomed her into their lives and treated her with nothing but kindness, respect, and love, and we will be forever grateful for all of them and what they meant to our mom.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her daughter Tammy, her parents Melvin and Connie, her brothers Ron and Randy Dull, her beloved sister Linda Smith, her father-in-law, Harold Bowersock Sr., mother-in-law, Virginia Bowersock, brother-in-law, Harold Bowersock Jr., sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine & Robert Clyburn, and sister and brother-in-law, Janice & Larry Harpster.
Sue is survived by her daughter Trisa (Ron) Kopchak; grandson Derrick (Kelly) Bowersock, whom she raised; grandchildren Sierra (Quintan) Kocher of Ashland, Tyler (Corinne) Daniels of Perrysville, Jack (Morgan) Wolfe III of Streetsboro, and Tanner (Katelyn) Daniels of Ashland; and great-grandchildren Qarsten & Qendrix Kocher, Cece and Ellie Daniels, Jack Wolfe IV, Lorelai Wolfe, Holden Wolfe, and Wyatt & Nora Daniels. She is also survived by her companion Bill Stauffer and his family, her sister Carol Alexander of Columbus, brother & sister-in-law Steve (Rita) Bowersock of Ashland, sister-in-law Michelle Eny of Texas, and sister-in-law Mary Ann Dull of Florida, along with many nieces & nephews.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Brethren Care, especially Abby (Shank) Coram, for the care and compassion they showed Mom during her recent rehabilitation for her fractured hip. She was very appreciative of the quality of care she received while there.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home, 313 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805. Family and friends may visit on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
