In Loving Memory of Rick Lawrence, February 15, 1951 – September 11, 2026

Harold Richard Lawrence of Nova, Ohio, known by family and friends as Rick, left this earth peacefully on September 11, 2026 at the age of 75. Rick was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Ann Lawrence; brother and sister-in-law Gary and Debbie Lawrence; and beloved police dog Rex. He is survived by his significant other and “partner in crime” of 36 years, Sandy Krausher; favorite cat Abby; siblings, Dave (Debbie) Lawrence, Debbie Anderson, and Susan Starcher; one daughter, April Esquilin; and one son, Abraham Lawrence. He also leaves behind 10 grandkids and 7 great grandkids who loved and adored him; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Rick was passionate about his career at the Lorain County Sherriff’s Office where he served as a deputy and detective for 13 years before retiring. He served as a representative and chair member on the District 10 PERI organization for 10 years. He was also active in the local Fraternal Order Of Police where he made life-long friendships with fellow law enforcement officers. He was an active member of Church and held an unwavering faith in the Lord.

His favorite role was that of grandpa. He was a devoted and loving grandpa to so many. He prioritized creating memories and dedicating his time to his family. He enjoyed watching his grandkids and great grandkids play sports and provided unwavering support.

Everyone who knew Rick knew how much he loved sports and enjoyed watching baseball and football especially. He was an avid Ohio State fan and enjoyed watching his alma mater football team.

Rick’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him dearly. He leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and cherished memories.

Funeral services will be held at Heyl Funeral Home in Ashland, Ohio with a date to be announced.
