PATRICIA EIDT HARP DENBOW
OBITUARY
April 20, 1929 – September 16, 2026

Born on April 20, 1929, to Margaret Brickett and Cecil Eidt in Cleveland, Ohio. At 18 months, she was adopted and lovingly raised by Ray and Annabel Harp of Ashland. She graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1946, and from Ashland College in 1966.

Music has always been a big part of her life. She met Joseph Denbow in college band and choir, and they married on June 30, 1948. She taught at Doylestown, Ruggles Troy, Grant Street, Taft, and Osborn Elementary schools. She received the Martha Holden Jennings Award in 1972 and the Ashland Women of Achievement Award in 2003. She was on the Teacher Education Advisory Council at Ashland University for many years and was active at the Ashland County Historical Society. She was a member and past president of the Ashland Symphony Women’s League, a member of Pi Alpha Gamma, and a member of the Ashland Musical Club. She was a lifelong member of several church choirs. At Christ United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday School, served on various committees, and was a Stephen Minister (caregiver and leader).

She is survived by Joe, her husband of 78 years; two sons, Thomas (Barb Clint) Denbow of Cleveland, Ohio, Steven (Barb) Denbow of Cummings, Georgia, one daughter, Anne (Keith Jones) Denbow of Spartanburg, South Carolina; eight grandchildren, Scott (Kelly) Denbow, Ryan (Kristy) Denbow, and Cadie (Logan) Clark, all of Atlanta, Georgia, Drew (Kelly) Gilbert of Charleston, South Carolina; Heather Jones, New York, New York, and Cassie (Pratyush Singh) Denbow, Aldona (Goa), India, Kayla Clint, Cleveland, Ohio, and Collin Denbow of Seattle, Washington; six great-granddaughters and 3 great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Doug and Cecil Eidt of Canada, and sisters and brothers-in-law Jane and Jim Lightner and Shirley and Richard Denbow.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. in the Christ United Methodist Church, with Reverend Mar Bruner and Reverend Tom Snyder presiding. Interment will follow at the Ashland Cemetery. Family and friends may visit the church one hour before the service, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Memorial gifts may be made in her honor to the Joseph & Patricia Denbow Scholarship Fund at Ashland County Community Foundation or Christ United Methodist Church.
