Audrey Jayne Benton, 100 of Ashland passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
She was born on February 1, 1926, in Galion, Ohio, the daughter of the late Talmar A. and J. Ruth (nee Harding) Ricker.
Jayne graduated from Galion High School, Class of 1944. She married the love of her life, Wilford Leroy “Ben” Benton.
After more than 30 years, Jayne retired from Abbott Laboratories, formerly Faultless Rubber Company.
Her faith was the one thing she attributed to her wonderful life and longevity. She attended church at the Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Center. Jayne enjoyed making crosses, praying over them and sending them all over the world. She truly loved her Lord and Saviour and was an enthusiastic prayer warrior. Jayne was an avid card player especially euchre and pinochle and enjoyed making crafts.
She is survived by four children, Don (Alison) Benton of Dublin, Ohio, Teri (Avi) Benton Aharoni of Ashland, Bryan (Sandy) Benton of Woodstock, Georgia, and Tami (Chris) Benton Bott of Ashland; seven grandchildren, Scott, Sherrie, Shellie, Jason, Alissa, Bryan C. and Brittany; eight great grandchildren, Courtney, Joshua, Victoria, Tyrus, Leander, Griffin, Elowen, and Ciara; and special friends, Jeff and Teri Huff of Ashland.
In addition to her parents, Jayne is preceded in death by her husband, Ben, who passed away on August 28, 1986; and her five siblings, Myron, Martha, Eleanor, Francis and Donna Ruth. Her oldest daughter Jayne Ruth (Bob) Peters who passed in 2007.
Visitation hours will be held Tuesday October 20, 2026 from 12:00 to 2:00 at Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 with Major Bill Frances presiding. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery.
