COLUMBUS — State Rep. Melanie Miller (R-Ashland) recently joined Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel and Ohio Department of Agriculture Director Brian Baldridge at Mapleton Elementary School for a Team Tressel Fitness Challenge event.
Ashland University athletes and members of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were also present and participated in the event.
“Building healthy habits at a young age can make a lasting difference in a child’s life,” Miller said. “I appreciate Lt. Gov. Tressel taking the time to visit Mapleton Elementary and inspire students to prioritize their health and wellness while having fun along the way.
“It was wonderful to see students and community partners come together to encourage healthy habits and positive choices.”
At the event, students, teachers, Ashland University athletes, Ohio State Highway Patrol personnel and other local leaders participated in various exercises and team-building activities led by Tressel, along with collegiate and professional athletes.
The Team Tressel Fitness Challenge encourages young Ohioans to build healthy habits through fitness, nutrition, sleep, goal setting, mental wellness and an attitude of gratitude— all of which can help them succeed in the classroom and in life.
