BELLVILLE: Lovella “Lou” “Sis” Lyon, age 85, passed away in her home, surrounded by her loving family, September 6, 2024. Lou, though slight in stature, was a tremendous and vibrant soul.
She was born February 2, 1939 in Hemlock, Ohio to the late Dalton and Icel (Welch) Wilson.
Lou had a taste for the delightsome and joyful. She loved all things sweet, both literally and figuratively; she enjoyed everything from a decadent and sugary dessert to watching beautiful birds, especially cardinals, around her yard. She loved games of chance and the excitement of winning, and was often found playing bingo or relishing a night out at the casino.
Her family was the single most important aspect of Lou’s life. She delighted in cooking big family meals and spending time with her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her mind, there was no more perfect time to celebrate her fierce devotion to her family than Christmas. Pulling out all the stops, she spent countless hours decorating, shopping and wrapping, making sure no detail was left to chance. Giving to her very core, Lou’s smile as she personally presented gifts to her family was one of pure light and joy. Lou was relentlessly vigorous and vivacious, and her small-but-mighty nature will be dearly missed by all those blessed to know her.
Lou is survived by her loving husband Edgel Franklin “Frank” Lyon; children Patricia “Patti” Scott, Susan “Sue” Ramey, Michelle “Shelli” (Keith) Vipperman, Stacey Weymeller, Lynne Schwaner, William “Bill” Lyon, and James “Jimmy” (Misty) Lyon; grandchildren T.J. (Abby), Steven (Courtney), Christina, Joshua (Kristy), Danielle (Brody), Brett (Madison), Whitney (Chris), James (Kaiti), Josie, Michael, Helena, Rachel, Kristen, Cody (Madison), Alyssa (Isaiah), Bryce (Mikayla), Ashton; great-grandchildren Hailey, Evelyn, Emily, Logan, “Baby Boy” due in October, Lainey, Tristan, Marlee, Annalee, Elliana, Alayna, Maverick, Skylar, Haley, Anthony, Maddie, Jayden, Broegan, Kendall, Easton and Blake; siblings Gloria Waite and Jim Wilson; and many nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by sons-in-law Mark Weyhmeller, Thomas Scott, and Michael Schwaner; grandson Craig Vipperman; siblings Virgil “Buck” Wilson, Opal (Ray) Majors, Jerry Wilson, Barbara Wilson, and Marilyn Yost; sister-in-law Janet Wilson and brothers-in-law Max Yost, and Ed Waite.
Lou’s family invites loved ones to gather at Snyder Funeral Homes, Bellville Butler Chapel on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 4-7pm for calling hours and Wednesday at 11am for funeral services. Pastor Micah Pelkey will officiate, and a graveside service and burial will follow at Shauck Cemetery.
Donations in honor of Lou may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
