ASHLAND — Expect heat and rain this week in Ashland and surrounding areas — neither of which are abnormal for early June in Ohio.
Meteorological summer kicked off June 1 and astronomical summer is quickly approaching on June 21. What’s the difference between the two?
According to National Centers for Environmental Information, astronomical seasons are based on the position of Earth in relation to the sun and meteorological seasons are based on the annual temperature cycle.
Regardless of the two season types, it’s starting to heat up.
Forecasted highs for Tuesday through Sunday in Ashland range from 82 to 90 degrees, including heat indexes in the mid-90s — specifically Wednesday and Thursday.
