ASHLAND – The sounds of live music will fill the air in downtown Ashland every Friday night this month as the Sundown Sounds Summer Concert Series returns.

Sponsored by Ashland Main Street, four local musical acts will perform during August from 5 to 7 p.m. at PNC Park.

The concert series kicked off last year, with a concert once a month from July through September in the park. Sandra Tunnell, executive director of Ashland Main Street, said the decision was made this year to pack all the concerts into one month to make it easier for people to keep track of concert dates.

This year’s lineup includes:

Aug. 5 – EKG. Two veteran musicians — Dennis Eggerton and Dean Kastran — have combined to create EKG. The Mansfield-based duo play an eclectic mix of bluegrass, rock, country and jazz.

Aug. 12 – Two Trains Running. Two Trains Running is an acoustic blues duo made up of Jimi Vincent and Steve Calabria, two members of the Jimi Vincent Band.

Aug. 19 – Jeff Ritz. Winner of the 2015 Rising Stars competition in Lexington, Ashland native Ritz plays alternative and folk music.

Aug. 26 – Tom’s Kitchen Table. Tom’s Kitchen Table is a three-man band from Ashland that includes Chad Lemon and Michael Kruman.

“They are all amazing,” Tunnell said of the musical acts. “They are all local and we are lucky to have such great talent in our backyard, and talent we can experience for free this month.”

Tunnell thanked Ashland resident Nancy Wasen for using her knowledge of local music to help arrange a high-quality musical lineup for the concerts.

“Thanks to Sandra Tunnell for letting me be part of bringing live music to downtown Ashland on Friday nights in August. I think people of all ages will enjoy the musicians we have lined up for the next four Fridays,” Wasen said.

A cash bar will be available and attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs.

Tunnell is still working to arrange for an indoor location in the event of inclement weather. Follow the Ashland Main Street Facebook page for updates.
