Just a few days after the famed weather woodchuck failed to see his shadow and proclaimed an early spring, north central Ohio is about to experience a return of winter.

The National Weather Service office in Cleveland has issued a hazardous weather outlook for all of north central Ohio, including Richland, Ashland, Crawford and Knox counties for the next few days.

Forecasters predict a light wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow is possible for Tuesday afternoon and evening. Little or no ice accumulation is expected and any snow accumulation would be under an inch.

A wintry mix is expected Wednesday night and lingering into Thursday morning. A period of rain will follow for Thursday, before temperatures fall and a changeover to snow is expected from west to east from Thursday afternoon through evening. A light glaze of ice is possible before it warms above freezing Thursday.

New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible Wednesday night and Thursday. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

There is a 40 percent chance of snow on Thursday night with new snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
