ASHLAND — Ashland will kick off the holiday season with this year’s annual Christmas parade organized by Ashland Main Street and official Christmas tree lighting organized by the City of Ashland on Saturday, December 5.
The fabulous downtown fireworks display will return this year immediately following the tree lighting ceremony in downtown.
“All are welcome to join us for one of the most joyous nights of the year as we fill our city’s downtown with the sights and sounds of Christmas, said the city’s community outreach coordinator Amanda Patterson in a press release.
The theme for this year’s parade is “My Favorite Christmas Movie” and will begin at 6:00 p.m.
The lighting of the city’s official Christmas Tree and downtown fireworks display will immediately follow at the Ashland County Corner Park.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, additional safety measures are being taken to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all, the press release said.
The parade route has been altered and lengthened to allow viewers to social distance along the sidewalk or remain in their vehicles if they wish. The parade will begin at the intersection of Claremont Avenue, King Road, and College Avenue, travel north on Claremont, turn right on Main Street and end at Union Street.
Additionally, if community members prefer to view Saturday’s festivities from the comfort of their own home, the City of Ashland will be live-streaming the events on our Facebook page.
The Ashland Christmas Parade is organized by Ashland Main Street and sponsored by the Ashland Evening Lions, the Official Tree Lighting and Downtown Fireworks are brought to you by the City of Ashland and sponsored by Grandpa’s Cheesebarn & Sweeties Chocolates, Pyrotecnico Fireworks, Inc. and private donations. This year’s live-stream is made possible by Chandler Systems, Armstrong Cable, and Dynamic Audio.
