ASHLAND — The Ashland Symphony Orchestra will present “Timeless”, Saturday, Oct. 30, at 3 and 7:30 p.m. at the Robert M. and Janet L. Archer Auditorium.

The ASO is auditioning five candidates for the position of Music Director/Conductor. Each will program and conduct a concert during the 2021-2022 season.

Yaniv Segal will be on the podium. He has selected American Composer George Rochberg’s Transcendental Variations, Luigi Boccherini’s Cello Concerto in D Major featuring soloist Mark Kosower, and Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky and orchestrated by Segal. Segal’s orchestration was recently completed and will have its world premiere with the ASO. This program is presented without intermission.

Yaniv Segal has achieved critical success since childhood for his work as a symphonic conductor, composer, actor, and violinist. A rising star who is “redefining classical music” (Esquire Magazine), Yaniv is Conductor Laureate and Artistic Advisor of the Chelsea Symphony, former Assistant Conductor of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Naples Philharmonic, and has also assisted at the New York Philharmonic.

A modern player with a “signature sound” and distinctive style of playing, cellist Mark Kosower embodies the concept of the complete musician performing as concerto soloist with symphony orchestras, in solo recitals, and as a much admired and sought-after chamber musician. He is Principal Cello of the Cleveland Orchestra and a scholar and teacher of cello.

In addition to the 3 and 7:30 p.m. in-person performances, this program will be available to stream on demand from Nov. 5 to Dec. 4.

Tickets for live and virtual concerts are $24 for adults, $21 for seniors, and $5 for children and students and may be purchased at the ASO office 419-289-5115 located at 331 College Ave, or on line at ashlandsymphony.org. Sampler ticket packages (3 concerts of your choice) are still available.

At this time, the ASO is requiring all patrons to wear masks. Patrons may also request socially distanced seats at the time of purchase.
