ASHLAND — Ashland Source’s Emma Davis joined WRDL The Early Bird’s Word hosts Nicholas Stupka and Brandon Gunder on Thursday to talk about the latest local news.
During this week’s show, Davis focused on a recent development in ongoing workforce challenges amid the COVID-19 pandemic: retention issues in local restaurants, coupled by a shift in job applicants getting younger.
Davis also spoke about how staffing shortages have led to the closure of driver exam centers near Ashland County and elsewhere in Ohio.
Another topic of discussion included an Ashland nursing home’s program to improve residents’ wellbeing by granting wishes. Reports of increased loneliness and mental anguish among nursing home residents during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic have brought the issue the program addresses — mental wellbeing — into greater focus.
An Ashland Source staff member features top stories every Thursday morning on WRDL’s The Early Bird’s Word.
