ASHLAND — Ashland residents will soon get a first look at the newly remodeled Walmart Supercenter at 1996 E. Main Street as the much-anticipated project is now complete.

The store will celebrate its re-grand opening on Friday, September 30th with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 a.m.

“Our store has been serving the Ashland community since 1990 and we are so excited to invite the community to join us in the celebration,” said Walmart Store Manager Frank Erhard. “We’re also excited because the upgrades that were made to our store will not only offer our customers a fresh new look, but the innovations will make it easier for our associates to get customers what they want, when they want it.”

Building on its commitment to the communities it serves, the Ashland Supercenter is among the 26 stores throughout the state of Ohio that Walmart will update and remodel as part of a more than $130 million investment. In addition to the local jobs the investment supports, these store transformations will create an updated experience for customers, including expanded shopping options to help people save time and money.

“As one of our community’s top retailers in terms of the wide variety of products they offer and their sales volume, Walmart continues to be an important part of our local economy and our local community,” said Ashland Mayor Matt Miller. “We are so pleased that they continue to invest money and talent in our Ashland store, so that they can give our local citizens the best possible shopping experience. I am so thankful for the way they have partnered with our city over the years to help out our local charities and to help us fund important community projects.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will include presentations from Walmart representatives as well as remarks from Mayor Miller. The celebration will continue throughout the day with free samples and giveaways for customers to enjoy.

A food truck will also be on-hand in the parking lot and the Ashland Police Department will be there promoting its Reach Out Cops and Kids (ROCK) initiative that seeks to build positive community relationships, especially with Ashland’s youth. Customers will also have the opportunity to enter a drawing for a chance to win a 55-inch television.

In addition to the refreshed and modernized fixtures, lighting and signage inside the store, the customers will enjoy the transformation at the front end of the store to provide more convenience. Walmart has also continued to add innovations to help customers save time and money by giving them the option to shop when, where, and how they want including:
