JEROMESVILLE — Experience won the day in Jeromesville’s race for mayor.
Randy Spade, who’s served in the position for nine years, clinched a win over challenger Kevin Clark on Tuesday night.
“I’m grateful and excited and humbled by the 112 who voted for me,” Spade said. “And I will strive to be the best mayor I can be for those 51 who didn’t.”
Final, unofficial results from the Ashland County Board of Elections show Spade earning 68.71% of the 163 votes cast in the election. That’s 112 votes.
His opponent, Clark, a former machine repairman for General Motors, took home 31.29%, which totals 51 votes.
Spade said he looks forward to continuing his work on a number of ongoing projects that he started during his last term as mayor.
Chief among those, according to previous Ashland Source reporting, are a water line replacement and town-beautification efforts.
He added he’s already working on improving his communications within the village. Spade plans to bring back town halls, which will happen once every few months.
He also looks forward to continuing to engage the town in activities and events.
Spade spent election night at home, celebrating both his win and his son’s first birthday with family.
“I’m just grateful for all that my family does to support me,” Spade said.
