Lois Marie (Myers) Barnhart, 96, of Ashland, Ohio went to be with Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at her home in Ashland, Ohio.

She was born on September 17, 1927 in Topeka, Kansas to Glenn Otto and Alice Lenora Myers. She has resided in Ashland with her daughter’s family since May, 2001. Most of her life she lived in Southwestern Ohio around Germantown. She graduated from Gratis High School before marrying Virgil L. Barnhart on August 15, 1946 in Gratis, Ohio. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2010.

Lois was primarily a homemaker and legal secretary. She served faithfully in various ministry roles in the Brethren Church-locally as a Deaconess, teaching all ages at the Gratis Brethren Church and then at Park Street Brethren where she was a member these last 22 years. She also served in the Ohio District and National Brethren Women ministry (WMS) as well as on the Ohio Camp Bethany Board and various other roles as were needed.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Kenneth) Van Duyne of Ashland; a daughter-in-law, Sandra (Shultz) Barnhart of Englewood, Ohio; five grandchildren, Christy (Jason) Carmen of Younde, Cameroon, Mindy (Michael) McPherran of Ashland, Kenton (Tami) Van Duyne of Wadsworth, Jonathan (Whitney) Barnhart of Crawfordsville, Indiana, and Katherine (Brian) Campbell of Yorktown, Virginia; five great-grandchildren, Micaela (Aaron) Griffiths, Alyssa and Josiah Carmean, James, Audrey and Madison McPherran, Kaden, Brooklyn and Westin Van Duyne, Dannika and MaKenna Barnhart and Alexandra and Olivia Campbell; and one great-great-granddaughter, Amira Griffiths.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Virgil, Lois is preceded in death by their son, David Barnhart who passed away in May of 1990; and a brother.

A Memorial Celebration will be held at Park Street Brethren Church on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Nate Bebout presiding. The service will be Livestreamed via the Park Street’s webpage at parkstreetbrethren.org or available on Park Street Facebook page. A reception will follow the service. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Gratis, Ohio at a later date.
