ASHLAND — The 2024 Great Midwest Athletic Conference champions have made their way to the 2024 NCAA Division II postseason.
Ashland University’s football team (8-3) found out on Sunday night that it will make its ninth all-time Division II playoff appearance on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Charleston, W.Va. (11-0).
Charleston is the No. 2 seed in the region. Kutztown is the top seed and earned a first-round bye. Game time and more information will be announced later.

Coach Doug Geiser’s Eagles are the outright Great Midwest Athletic Conference champions, after compiling an 8-1 mark in the league this season.
AU has played in the NCAA Division II postseason eight previous times (1986, 1997, 2007-08, 2012, 2015, 2017 and 2022).
The other opening-round matchups in Super Region 1 are New Haven (8-2) at Slippery Rock (9-1), and East Stroudsburg (10-1) at California, Pa. (8-2).
A 28-team tournament (seven teams in each of four super regions), the Division II postseason will begin on Saturday. The 2024 NCAA Division II football national championship game will be Dec. 21 in McKinney, Tex.
In Super Region 1, there is earned access from four conferences – the Great Midwest, Mountain East, Northeast-10 and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
There are 43 teams in the super region that are eligible for postseason play – nine from the Great Midwest, 10 from the Mountain East, nine from Northeast-10 and 15 from the PSAC.
