Cody A. Smyly, 32, of Ashland, formerly of South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026 in his home.
He was born on November 28, 1993, in Charleston, South Carolina, the son of Christopher Smyly and Jennifer (nee Hughes) Myers.
Cody graduated from Provost High School, Class of 2012. Prior to relocating to Ashland, Cody worked for a paint and finish company for many years.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed collecting Star Wars memorabilia, drawing, writing jingles and songs. Most of all he loved his canine companion, Brutus. Cody was a huge OSU fan and enjoyed watching with his mother.
He is survived by his mother, Jennifer Myers of Ashland; his aunt, Traci Hughes Bartley of Ashland; an uncle, Christopher (Sandy) Hughes of Cummings, Georgia; his paternal grandmother, Virigina Smyly of Walterboro, South Carolina; and several cousins that he was close to.
Cody is preceded in death by his father, Christopher Smyly; his paternal grandfather, Alan Smyly; a stepfather, James Myers; and his maternal grandparents, Claudia (Arthur) Johnson.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home & Crematory.
