Superintendent shares district reminders

Ashland Supt. Steve Paramore reminded folks in attendance at Monday’s meeting (or watching online) about the district’s operating levy renewal on the November general election ballot.

The 9.9-mill levy, as a renewal, will not involve any additional taxation. Paramore said the levy generates about $5.6 million annually for the district.

The cost to homeowners within the district is $210 per each $100,000 of the county auditor’s market value.

Paramore also shared details of the district’s Thanksgiving break, which begins with a two-hour early release on Nov. 24. Students will not have school Nov. 25-29.

A Senior Citizens Christmas Luncheon is set for Dec. 4 at Ashland High School’s Archer Auditorium. The lunch portion will be served in the AHS cafeteria. Tickets for the event go on sale Nov. 2 at the district’s central office, 1407 Claremont Ave, as well as the Ashland County Council On Aging, 240 E. 3rd St.

Paramore said the tickets are free but must be picked up in person at either location.

“Those are usually hot items and we’re excited about the program we’ll have. Obviously the lunch is something that lots of people have enjoyed,” he said. “We’ve added some extra tables and seats this year. We’re up to 350 I believe, which is great.”

The Ashland City Schools Board of Education does not have a work session scheduled for the month of November. The board’s next regularly scheduled meeting will take place Nov. 23 at 5:30 p.m.
