ASHLAND — The Ashland FFA Floriculture Career Development Event (CDE) team achieved an outstanding accomplishment at the 99th national FFA Convention and Expo, earning second place in the nation among top FFA chapters from across the country.
Adding to the team’s success, Ashland FFA member Haley McNaull earned first place overall individually in the national Floriculture CDE.
The Ashland FFA Floriculture team consisted of Haley McNaull, Hannah McNaull, Elise Frazer, and Gwenyth Miller who all were recognized as having a gold rating and also given a golden pin.
Each member worked hard to prepare for the national competition, demonstrating their knowledge, skills, and dedication to the floral industry.
The Floriculture CDE challenges students to apply their knowledge of floral design, plant identification, floral evaluation, and the principles of the floriculture industry.
Competing at the national level requires extensive preparation, teamwork, and a strong understanding of the skills needed for careers in the horticulture and floral industries.
Haley McNaull’s first-place individual finish highlights her exceptional performance and dedication to the contest. Her accomplishment, combined with the team’s second-place national finish, represents an incredible achievement for Ashland FFA and its agricultural education program.
The team’s success would not have been possible without the support and guidance of those who helped prepare them for the competition.
Special recognition goes to Mary Cox for her time, encouragement, and dedication to helping the team reach this level of success. Her commitment to the students and the Ashland FFA chapter played an important role in their preparation.
The results at the 99th National FFA Convention reflect the hard work of these four students and the strength of Ashland FFA’s agricultural education program.
Bringing home a second-place national finish, along with the nation’s top individual Floriculture CDE competitor, is an accomplishment the entire Ashland community can celebrate.
Congratulations to Haley McNaull, Hannah McNaull, Elise Frazer, and Gwenyth Miller on an incredible national performance. Ashland FFA is proud of the dedication, teamwork, and excellence these students demonstrated on the national stage.
