JEROMESVILLE — Prior to moving into its new facility for the 2023-24 school year, the Hillsdale Local School District will be hosting open-house building tributes for its current schools.
The last of the three is this Saturday, May 6 at the high school, 485 Twp. Rd. 1902, Jeromesville 44840 from 9 a.m. to noon, with a pancake breakfast until 11 a.m.
The public is invited to tour the building, reminisce about walking through its halls, and enjoy memorabilia. At 10:30 a.m. there will be live music entertainment provided by school staff.
Recording booths will be available for individuals to relate a short story about the building and their memories.
Previously, the open house at the elementary school was hosted on March 11 and at the middle school on April 23.
The high school building was opened on Sept. 2, 1964, to approximately 325 students. On May 24, 1965, the Hillsdale class of 1965 was the first class to graduate from the new building.
The Hillsdale District was formed in January 1961 with the consolidation of the Hayesville Local and Jeromesville Local districts.
In May 1963, a committee selected the school colors of Columbia blue and gold and the falcon mascot from suggestions submitted by students.
