Five new inductees have been selected and will be honored, bringing the total inducted since the first event in 2003 to 65.

While at AHS, Steve was a scholar athlete and a three-year varsity letterman in golf. He earned All-Ohio Heartland Conference honors three times and was an All-Ohioan in 1997, when he won the individual OHSAA Division I state championship.

That same year, the Arrows finished second as a team at state. In 1998, Steve was a member of Ashland’s second state championship-winning golf team.

He attended Florida Southern College, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2003 and played on the golf team.

At FSC, he was a four-time NCAA Division II All-American, and in 2000, he helped the Mocs win the 11th national championship in their men’s golf history.

Steve returned to Ashland and began coaching the AHS boys and girls golf teams while serving as a substitute teacher.

In 2004, he was hired as a full-time physical education teacher at Ashland City Schools. He obtained a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Ashland University in 2009 and later completed a Masters of Education in Educational Administration in 2014 from AU.

After coaching and teaching for 11 years, Steve was named assistant principal at Ashland Middle School in 2014. Six years later, he became the assistant superintendent for Operations and Human Resources with ACS.

In 2023, Steve was hired for his current role as Ashland City Schools Superintendent. He considers serving the students, staff and community of Ashland the highest honor bestowed upon him.

Steve resides in Ashland with his wife of 20 years, Kerre. They have two daughters, Klaira and Mazie.

A proud Arrow, he can be found working as the PA announcer for AHS basketball and Ashland University football and basketball games.

Steve serves on the Board of Trustees for the Kroc Center and the United Way of Ashland County.
